Vivisection

Allision so kndly labelled talking and thinking about things rather than feeling and intuiting things vivisection of the things. So be it. Another form of anal-ycity reaction, no doubt.

Well since then I found a reference to this previously only anatomically usable word in literature to refer more generally to the attempt to be in control of things rather than letting them wash over you. The reference was I believe in Darkness at Noon, in fact. "A literary use, hmmm," I thought to myself. "That means she didn't invent this bright and colorful usage of a term new perhaps only to me." Cool. Aren't I swift to allocate originality where social convention and a large vocab and broad reading base will suffice.

Webster Definition for "vivisection"

I like that very last bit.
