talking to A, he is very much self-absorbed. hearing what you say, but always so busy concocting his next thoughts, that it seems he is not listening. I am thinking, I am much the same way, not really listening, more entertained by what is in my own mind than is in others. maybe this is why we seldom meet people who interest us, too busy listening to ourselves to listen to others...

and then we have a conversation about listening to groups made up of large numbers, ie. religion, politics, we may not agree with what they say but when so many people are involved it's probably important to know something about the subject and at least have an opinion...

thinking back to the beginning of all things and 1974. Wondering which as much about the endings as the beginnings...

"Try not to think about what might have been
'Cause that was then, and we have taken different roads...
We can't go back again, there's no use givin in,
and there's no way to know....
What might have been.
The same ole' look in your eyes
It's a beautiful night
I'm so tempted to stay
But too much time has gone by
We should just say goodnight
and turn and walk away...
Try not to think about what might have been...
Cause that was then, and we have taken different roads...
We can't go back again, there's no use givin' in,
and there's no way to know...
What might have been..."

-Little Texas

if we don't think about what might have been
we can avoid beginnings and endings, no?

why do we always feel as if we're in the middle of something
even when we stand on the very tip?

have we understanding between true recluse
and true expression? is there time to debate the issue
or time not to?
