A rough sketch: Some of our children are social people, and some are psychological people. Both have been organized into movements. The social are eco friendly, pc kids with a social conscience and the desire to pick up other people's garbage as never before. They get together in social hotspots, and join stylized gangs. The psychological kids meet in cyberspace. Each brings a wealth of techno understanding to the mix almost as a ritual hazing. Whether hacker or artist, this kids create a social structure through the creation of new rules, flexible rules which change on a fashion whim, and develop with the current mode of techno-communication. Do they meet in person? As rich a communication occurs, but in support of the new planet - the information society - and not of the old planet - the eco society.
Psychological forming social groups. The reverse occurs as well, leaving behind packaged personalities, recognizable brand names, and membership classes stamped on loudly. The first creates social structures without the refinements a sophisticate might desire, and yet the personalities involved are sourced internally and mold themselves to fitting in with more intricaate internal tinkering. Personality hacking. Social hacking.
In the end, we are to be left with the technos and the ecos. Will they cooperate or skirmish? Clearly skirmishing empowers the causes as nothing else. They will skirmish. And as clearly, the true cooperative results would transcend the goals of both strategies and the human tokens within each implementation. The future republicans and democrats.
