What you want is a course in "multimedia publishing". That really means CDRom publishing. :) My friend Monika has a company in Vancouver called Made by Magik. They are multimedia publishers/ producers. I know her from way back in Systems Design Engineering. She's an engineer. Here's her email:

Hmmm, there are newsgroups:
where lots of info of the sort you might want is available. Do you know how to subscribe to a particular newsgroup? Ask your sysadmin to show you.

Subject: UCLA short course on "CD-ROM Development Workshop"
Date: Wed, 24 May 1995 14:39:51
From: BGOODIN@UNEX.UCLA.EDU (William R. Goodin)
Organization:UCLA Extension
Newsgroups: alt.cdrom, comp.multimedia, comp.publish.cdrom.multimedia,

On July 11-14, 1995, UCLA Extension will present the short course,
"CD-ROM Development Workshop: From Multimedia Publishing to Data
Archival" on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles.
The instructors are Ash Pahwa, PhD, President, CD-ROM Strategies; Paul
W. Melnychuck, MS, Sales Manager, Eastman Kodak; Jeannine Parker,
Consultant/Writer and President, International Interactive
Communications Society (IICS); and Jan Ozer, President, Doceo
Publishing.
Each participant receives extensive course lecture notes and the text,
"CD-Recordable Bible", A. Pahwa (Pemberton Press, 1994).
Multimedia is the combination of computer data, image, and audio and
video, and can be defined as the presentation of information in more
than one form on a single delivery system. This course addresses the
development of a CD-ROM application, provides CD-ROM technology aspects,
and emphasizes the steps required to create a useful application. It
also provides a brief overview of multimedia content, design, production
and business issues.
Image audio and video are very storage intensive data types. Without
compression, it is difficult to use them in any real world application.
Compression techniques like JPEG (image), MPEG (motion video), ADPCM
(audio) are explained, as well as the technical details of CD-ROM, why
CD-ROM has become an ideal platform for multimedia application
development, and how to overcome the shortcomings of CD-ROM technology.
Basic technical issues are presented, including CD-ROM architecture and
ISO 9660 file structure. Due to lack of standards, a multimedia
application can be built on many platforms, like CD-I, CD-ROM/XA, Photo
CD and MPC, all of which are compared and contrasted. Since codec are
the foundation of multimedia applications, the fundamental theory of
software and hardware codec are explained. All commercial multimedia
authoring software are analyzed.
The next frontier in CD technology is the ability to distribute CD
movies, and ISO 9660 file structure. Due to lack of standards, a
multimedia application can be built on many platforms, like CD-I,
CD-ROM/XA, Photo CD and MPC, all of which are compared and contrasted.
Since codec are the foundation of multimedia applications, the
fundamental theory of software and hardware codec are explained. All
commercial multimedia authoring software are analyzed.
The next frontier in CD technology is the ability to distribute CD
movies, and all standards related to video CD including White Book are
discussed. MPEG encoding and decoding processes are demonstrated as
well. Because the compact disc recorder is to compact disc publishing
what the laser printer is to desktop publishing, compact disc recordable
technology, and how and when to use it, are examined in detail.

Larger Quantities
=================
For larger runs of same title CD's, a more cost effective manner
may be to pursue regular CD production and pressing of the desired
number of CD's. We can consult with you on the possibilities and
cost breakpoints of taking this approach, and as well consider its
timeliness as opposed to more immediate low volume, or one-off
production.
For larger volumes, depending on the turnaround time, production
costs will be as follows:
